Permission Is Required To Hunt On Private Land

Hunting Edition

Hunters—don’t delay. Montana law requires hunters to obtain permission for all hunting on private land.

Landowners may grant permission in a face-to-face contact or over the phone, in writing or by posting signs that explain the type of hunting allowed and under what conditions.

It is a hunter’s responsibility to always carry a copy of the current hunting regulations and appropriate maps to ensure that he or she knows whose land they are on or what game may be legally taken.
