Third Annual “Pack It In Pink” Scheduled For Oct. 15

Savage School will host its third annual “Pack It In Pink” fundraising event, scheduled this year for Saturday, Oct. 15 as part of the girls’ volleyball games. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Sidney Health Center’s phase II cancer center.

“This is the third year for Pack it in Pink, an event which the school started to raise awareness about breast cancer and to urge women to get screenings,” says Michele Smith, Savage School. “The past two years all proceeds from the day’s volleyball games and the football game went to the Women’s Health Center, but this year all proceeds will go to the Sidney Health Center for its Phase II cancer project.”

She adds, “Local businesses will donate the officials’ fees, so all money made at the games will be donated.”

This year, only the girls’ volleyball team will play on Oct. 15. Attendees can enjoy three games, which begin at 5 p.m. and support the cancer center in Sidney at the same time.

“We encourage people to wear pink if possible,” Smith says. “We also want to encourage people to come support their hometown team and to support cancer research at the same time. We’ll also have a special memorial during the evening for those who have passed. This is always quite the event, and it is something you have to see.”

Come out, support your team and support the cancer center at the same time.
