Miles City Preservation Commission To Host Moving Sale Saturday

The Miles City Preservation Office, located at 907 B Main St., Miles City, has closed its doors and will be relocating.

Long-time Miles City Preservation Officer Amorette Allison took a job as staff writer at the Miles City Star in January and the office has been closed for several months. Miles City Preservation Commission members decided to close down the office on Main Street during the transition.

Some of the research materials have already been integrated with the collections in the Montana Room at the Miles City Public Library while others have been moved to the Range Riders Museum, the Miles City Star newspaper office and the Custer County Art and Heritage Center.

Commission members have been sorting through the remaining contents of the office and plan to hold a moving sale of office machines, furniture and historic memorabilia that are not essential to the mission of the preservation office on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the office.

Among the memorabilia are old city ledgers, maps, city directories and other items from Miles City and several counties in the surrounding area.

More information about the preservation office and the sale is available from Kathy Doeden, commission president, at 1-406-951-2992.
