It’s A Charlie Brown Christmas In 2012

The Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture announces the 2012 Christmas Stroll and Parade of Lights will be the day after Thanksgiving, November 23rd. Chosen as the theme this year is “It’s A Charlie Brown Christmas”.

The Chamber invites the community to become involved in the activities of this day. Food vendors can set up on East or West Main Street, or on the sidewalk along Central Avenue. Food items served in the past have included brats, pretzels, hot chocolate and cider, fry bread, and Christmas cookies. Burritos are already planned for this year. Electricity can be arranged for those needing power.

The Chamber Soup Contest will again be hosted by Ben and Brian McDowell, and their staff in the Restorx shop on South Central Avenue. Contestants must agree to make at least a roaster full of their specialty, and be on hand to serve. People’s Choice awards of $150 in Chamber Bucks will be divided between first and second place.

Entertainment is needed for the outdoor stage on East Main Street. Any type of vocal, instrumental, or dance act is welcome to sign up and perform. Seating will be available for the audience.

Wrapping up the downtown festivities will be the Parade of Lights at 7:00 p.m. The parade will line up in the Reynolds Market parking lot and travel north the full length of Central Avenue. All entries are encouraged to be decorated with holiday colors and lights. Awards will be given out for Best Use of Theme, Best Use of Lights, and Most Creative.

Contact the Chamber at 406-433-1916 or by emailing [email protected] for more information or entries. The Chamber also encourages everyone to shop local this holiday season. The whole community benefits through supporting our local merchants.
