Mead's New Kitchen is Beautiful & Efficient

When Cindy Mead moved into her new home on Sage Lily Drive in Sidney three years ago, she knew she would want to make some changes. Inspired by her native Kansas and her love of sunflowers, Mead has redone what was once a dark and inconvenient kitchen into a sun-filled, convenient space.

The kitchen is also the path to the basement and Mead found it congested whenever she had guests. Eliminating an island and moving the sink created an open, efficient kitchen, and a clear pathway.

Mead’s primary goal was to lighten the space. By choosing Dura Supreme cabinetry with a Monterey panel doorstyle in buttercream finish, her goal has been accomplished beautifully. The soft yellow cabinets glow in the sunshine, or in the evening with just the red pendant light on. The valance above the sink, desk and refrigerator, plus the molding all the way to the ceiling, finish off the cabinets. Mead is waiting for a few finishing touches such as the cabinet door handles and the backsplash to be installed but the kitchen is functioning exquisitely.

The complimenting countertops are Wilsonart hi-definition laminate in deepstar bronze with a gemlock edge. The single stainless undermount sink features a Delta single handle pull-down faucet also in stainless.

Jesse Thom was the carpenter, while Prairie Electric did the wiring, Vince Buss did the perfataping and Chad’s Furniture supplied the flooring. The cabinetry and countertops are from Creative Solutions. Mead expressed her appreciation for Brenda Larson and her staff at Creative Solutions for their valuable assistance in designing the cabinetry to maximize storage and counter space, while providing her with the light, airy kitchen she desired.
