The Montana Department of Transportation would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to reconstruct and pave approximately seven miles of Highway 327 south of Bainville, MT in Roosevelt County.  The project will begin at reference marker 0.6 near Bainville, continuing southeast to reference marker 7.6.  From reference marker 7.6 to reference marker 15.0, the existing gravel roadway will be paved, ending at the Montana/North Dakota border.

Proposed work includes a new bridge over Little Muddy Creek, along with updated culverts, asphalt surfacing, pavement markings and signage. The paving portion of the project will include additional gravel material, asphalt surfacing, new pavement markings, and slope flattening.   The purpose of the project is to provide an improved roadway to better handle the increased traffic and provide a continuous paved route from Bainville to Fairview and U.S. Highway 2.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2017, depending on completion of design and availability of funds.  New right-of way and relocation of utilities will be required.  MDT’s consultant will contact all affected landowners prior to doing survey work on their land.  MDT Staff will contact landowners prior to construction regarding property acquisition and temporary construction permits.
