Spring Boots & Bling Event Helping to Build a New Medical Complex in Watford City

Boots & Bling started in the 1990s as an event to raise awareness about the Benefit Fund of McKenzie County Healthcare Systems, the services provided by our rural healthcare system, and as a way to build community.  Since that time, they have outgrown the space at the Visitor Center and have evolved to a fundraising event for specific needs of the McKenzie County Healthcare System.

The proceeds from the 2012 event went to fund a therapy pool at the Connie Wold Wellness Center, and last year's funds were raised specifically for "movable" upgrades at the clinic: new exam tables, much needed equipment and waiting room furniture.

The proceeds from the 2014 Boots & Bling Gala will be given to the McKenzie County Healthcare Systems, Inc. to help with the building costs of its new Medical Complex Facility.

Today, Watford City, formerly made up of 1100 citizens, is sitting on the county level at somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 (according to recent statistics), and headed to a population of 22,000. This number does not include those living out in the county. Because of this burgeoning population and the increased need for state-of-the-art healthcare delivery, the McKenzie County Healthcare Systems, Inc. is building a state of the art medical complex that will encompass and enhance the existing structure associated with the current service delivery.

The MCHS, Inc. Medical Complex will provide:

• Twelve (12) emergency treatment bays

• Twenty-four (24) bed hospital

• Thirty (30) outpatient, clinic-based, patient rooms

• Private resident rooms for our aging population that need nursing care

•  A full scale laboratory

• X-Ray

• 32 slice CT Scan

• Ultrasound

• Outpatient surgery services

• Room for development of future innovations in medical care

Governor Jack Dalrymple recently commented on the need for the new facility and his support of building it, "McKenzie County is perhaps the epicenter of the current population growth in western North Dakota. As the state continues to make significant investments to enhance emergency services, including a $12.5 million loan through Bank of North Dakota for McKenzie County Healthcare System, public-private investments in projects such as this are important ways to ensure the needs of the community are met."

The Boots & Bling 2014 event is being held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Outlaws Ballroom (downstairs) on Main St in Watford City.  There will be a 4 course dinner experience from Outlaws' Bar & Grill, entertainment will be provided by The Dueling Pianos - a hilarious two-man comedy act that'll have you doubled over gasping for breath, and the auctions (silent & live) will feature wonderful vacation packages, jewelry, desserts, artwork, and much more.

Tickets for the Boots & Bling Spring Gala 2014 are $150 per person or $300 per couple and can be purchased at the Connie Wold Wellness Center from Julie Morris, whose office is located in the Physical Therapy department within the facility.

The dress code is "come as you are," cowboy boots and jeans to cocktail dresses and bling. The event is geared toward comfort and having a great time while raising needed funds for a good charitable cause.

Funding: Initial estimates to build the medical facility are being forecasted at $55,000,000

100% of the Boots & Bling Spring Gala proceeds will go directly towards supporting & building the MCHS, Inc. Medical Complex. Your participation and contributions are greatly appreciated.
