MEC Donates to Make a Wish

On December 12th, McKenzie Electric Cooperative hosted their annual Christmas Party for the employees and board members at Outlaws Bar and Grill. During the event, a silent auction was set up with various items donated by staff, board members and contractors.

This silent auction has been taking place since 2007 at MEC, and has made contributions totaling $4,597, prior to the 2014 year. 2014 set a new bar for the auction, after achieving the highest donation amount yet, $1,359. After the 2014 event, MEC will have raised over $5,956 for various organizations that serve in our own communities, through this holiday silent auction. Previous donations have been sent to recipients such as the Salvation Army, Relay for Life, and McKenzie County Social Services. All of the auction items and funds raised were contributed thanks to MEC’s employees, board members and contractors.

The high bidder for the evening of December 12th was Steve Lautenschlager, contributing $850 for two silent auction items. As the highest bidder Steve chose to send the total auction amount to the Make a Wish Foundation of ND.

Make a Wish Foundation is a national non-profit organization that funds wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. In 2013, Make a Wish granted the wishes of over 14,000 Kids. By granting wishes to these children, wish kids and their families emerge happier, more confident and renewed to overcome every obstacle.

This holiday season was definitely the season for giving at McKenzie Electric, thanks to the generosity of many employees and board members present that evening. Because of their contributions, this monetary donation will help cover the cost of a child’s wish in the coming months.

As another year comes to a close, it’s important to pay forward the successes that have blessed our lives in the past year, and to remember that this is the season for giving. MEC’s employees and board are proud to give back to the communities in which we live and serve.
