Jacobson to Receive Proceeds Raised by the Partner 4 Pain Run

The Run the World Sidney Run Club will be holding a Partner 4 Pain Run/Walk Saturday, October 10th at 9:00 am at Richland Park. Partner 4 Pain is the third run in a series of three, with each four mile run raising money for a different cause in the community. The proceeds from the Partner 4 Pain run will be donated to Jason Jacobson to help with medical expenses after he suffered a spinal cord injury.

Jacobson, a Sidney native, was the passenger in a one vehicle car accident on May 10, 2015. He suffered from collapsed lungs, broken ribs, a head injury, broken back, and spinal cord injuries. He was in the Intensive Care Unit at Billings Clinic for about a month before being moved to Advanced Care and he is currently at New Hope in Billings, MT receiving physical therapy.

"I'm very flattered and definitely didn't expect it," said Jacobson when asked about his reaction to having the event held in his honor. "It's been a long recovery. I woke up and I was paralyzed. I went through shock and a mix of emotions. Rehab is very physically and mentally challenging."

After being in a medically induced coma and on life support, Jacobson maintains a positive attitude. "I have to learn how to do things without the use of my legs and work hard and be happy," he commented. The father of four is determined to learn what he needs to know to get back to his life.

"I am very thankful to have the support of such great friends. It's awesome to live in a community where everyone cares for one another," said Rita Jacobson, Jason Jacobson's mother.

Anyone interested in participating can register prior to or on the day of the event; register online at RunSignUp.com by September 23rd for a guaranteed shirt. Registration is $25 for the two mile individual walk or $20 per person for the four mile partner run/walk where partner runners motivate each other and can have their times added together for results. Competitive Timing out of Billings will be there providing a PA system, music, and Chip timing which gives instant results. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. Amanda Piatte, founder of Run the World, would like to especially thank Healthworks for sponsoring the events. Run the World is a free running group that meets weekly and will have their last weekly run for the season October 15th. Donations can be made online and anyone with questions about Partner 4 Pain or information about the Sidney Run Club can email them to [email protected].

"I couldn't do it without the support of the community and I promise I will keep up the hard work," Jason Jacobson added. "Thank you."
