The Roundup/Sidney Kiwanis Club's Athletes Of The Year Award Nominees

Female Finalists For 2023 Roundup/Sidney Kiwanis Club's Athletes Of The Year Award

The Sidney Kiwanis Club and The Roundup will host the prestigious Athlete of the Year program on Thursday, June 22, noon at Sidney Elks Lodge. One female and one male athlete will be chosen from the applicants.

Emilee Iversen: Iversen played varsity golf all four years at Sidney High School earning all-conference and academic all-state honors and was team captain her senior year. She was also a manager for basketball through high school.

The daughter of T.J. and Felicia Iversen, Iversen plans to attend Dickinson State University majoring in elementary education.

Anna Allen: Allen was part of the Sidney Eagles volleyball team all four years of high school and participated in track her sophomore and junior years. She earned academic excellence in volleyball her freshman year, academic all-state in volleyball and track her sophomore and junior years, was JV volleyball team captain her junior year, varsity team captain her senior year and earned academic all-state her senior year.

Allen plans to pursue a nursing degree followed by a CRNA. She is the daughter of Brett and Lorraine Allen.

Leah G. Entz: Sidney Eagle Entz, daughter of George and Caroline Entz, plans to pursue a degree in economics at MSU Bozeman followed by Law School in Missoula with the goal of returning to Sidney to open her own law practice.

Entz was a volleyball setter all four years of high school, earning an academic all-star award her sophomore year, Most Valuable Player her junior year and academic all-state honors her junior and senior years. On the basketball court, she earned academic all-state honors, the most coachable award, and finished second in the team free-throw competition during her sophomore season. As a junior, Entz earned academic all-state honors and again finished second in the team free-throw competition. Her senior year, she received academic all-state honors and all-conference honorable mention award. Entz has also competed in track the past two years and plans to earn academic all-state honors along with her varsity letter.

Sophie Peters: Although Sidney Eagle Peters also participated in softball and volleyball, her favorite sport is basketball which she started playing in third grade. She earned 2nd team all-conference twice, offensive player of the year in 2021, defensive player of the year in 2022, and was team captain in 2022. Due to injuries, Sophie was unable to participate in volleyball her senior year but enjoyed playing the previous three years. In softball, she missed out on her junior year due to injuries but played again as a senior and earned honorable mention all-conference in 2021.

Sophie plans to attend Gordon College where she will also pursue her basketball career. She is the daughter of Dan and Carrie Peters.

Teah V. Conradsen: Conradsen, a senior from Savage High School, touted her work ethic in her application for Athlete of the Year. She stated, "I have been a student athlete for a long while now and that is something I will always be proud of. Trying to balance sports and athletics with school and academics was not always easy, yet it also taught me the key importance of work ethic and hard work. Sports have always been a part of me that I never wanted to miss out on. So, that meant your grades had to stay up. Along with achieving many awards in most if not all my academics I achieved many also in sports. Being a student athlete has had its ups and downs, but it always gave you the push you needed to stay on track."

Conradsen achieved 2nd team all-conference both her sophomore and junior years, and 1st team all-conference and 2nd team defense her senior year in basketball. In volleyball, she earned 2nd team all-conference her sophomore and junior years and 1st team all-conference and all state her senior year. She also went to state in track her sophomore year, made top 10 and went to state as a junior and earned top 10 and pre-qualified for state as a senior.

Teah is the daughter of Troy and Billie Conradsen, Savage. She plans to attend Williston State College where she will compete with the women's basketball team, and pursue a career in the field of criminal justice.

Male Finalists For 2023 Roundup/Sidney Kiwanis Club's Athletes Of The Year Award

The Sidney Kiwanis Club and The Roundup will host the prestigious Athlete of the Year program on Thursday, June 22, noon at Sidney Elks Lodge. One female and one male athlete will be chosen from the applicants.

Justin Filler: Filler was the starting tight end and defensive end on the Sidney Eagles JV team as well as the back for both positions on the varsity team. He also competed in hockey starting at the age of four.

He plans to attend the University of North Dakota where he will double major in astrophysics and mathematics. He is the son of Doug and Penny Filler.

Owen Lonski: The son of Bobbi Jo and Nick Lonski. This Sidney Eagle athlete has participated in both football and wrestling.

In football, Lonski earned academic honors all four years of high school and was varsity captain his senior year.

Lonski started wrestling at the tender age of four and continued all through high school where he helped his team win three state championships, and took home three individual state championships. He also earned academic all-state awards all four years, and was a senior captain.

Lonski plans to continue his wrestling career while pursuing a degree in finance at the University of Mary, eventually coming back to Sidney as a financial advisor for Edward Jones.

Zander Dean: This three sport athlete for the Sidney Eagles plans to continue his football career while pursuing a degree at Rocky Mountain College.

Dean was selected for the Shrine game, earned 1st team all-conference QB, 2nd team all-conference QB, 1st team all-state DB, all-conference DB twice, and all-state return specialist in football.

In baseball, Dean was named 1st team all-conference shortstop as well as 1st team all-conference catcher.

Wrestling honors include four time all-American, four-time state finalist, three-time state champion, four-time divisional finalist, 3-time divisional champion, Bismarck Rotary champion, three-time Scotty Invitational champion, Cowboy Invitational champion and Eagle Invitational finalist.

Dean is the son of Melissa Zeiler and Mike Dean.
