Live Music & Luau Show At Veterans Memorial Park, Sidney, Aug. 26

On Saturday, Aug. 26, Sidney residents enjoyed live music and luau, entertainment all the way from Hawaii.

This event was free to all.

The organizers of the event were T.C and Sela Ma'umalanga, the daughter of Lonsdale Methodist Pastor Sione Fungalei and his wife Ana.

"T.C. and Sela moved to Sidney just after Pastor Sione accepted the assignment to the Lonsdale Methodist Church, Sidney, and the Richey Methodist Church, five years ago," said longtime Lonsdale member Craig Price.

"The Ma'umalanga's lived in Sidney about two years but moved back to Provo, UT, to seek work opportunities. It was a hard decision for them to make this move, for they had become very fond of our area.

In May 2022 the Methodist churches, along with T.C. and Sela, organized a luau as a fund raiser to help the people of Tonga, who had just suffered a tsunami in January 2022. This event was held at the Elks Club and was a successful and fun night.

"The luau was a thank you to our community for the good memories the Ma'umalangas and their family have of our Montana community!" said Craig Price.

Many people brought their lawn chairs and enjoyed the show. It was a great experience for Sidney especially with what Hawaii is going through right now. It was wonderful to enjoy their culture and their positive nature.
