    In a recent landmark study funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, researchers at Columbia University identified a biological mechanism that could help explain how tobacco products could act as gateway drugs, increasing a person’s future likelihood of abusing cocaine and perhaps other drugs as well. The study is the first to show that nicotine might prime the brain to enhance the behavioral effects of cocaine.   • Little Wolves Basketball Program Earns Money for Garmann

    Little Wolves basketball program, which is in its 4th year, offers an 8 week program for kids ages PreK through 4th Grade. The program is held Saturdays from 9:00 am until Noon. The program began on January 4th, but will be held again next year. The kids work on basic skills the first 3 weeks then have 5 weeks of playing games. The cost for the program is $50, which includes a jersey and their own basketball. Every year the program keeps growing, with this year bringing 190 kids to the program....

    The Sidney High School Drill Team was recently named the winner of the “Academic All-Team Award” for the Fall season in Class A by the Montana High School Association and the Montana Army National Guard.     The Sidney High School Speech and Drama Team was in Havre, MT Saturday, Jan. 26th for the Class A State Meet. A number of the team members did well, including Kalen Hance who proved he was a force to be reckoned with. Hance was undefeated all season, and claimed State Champion in Extemp.
