Saddle Up for the 90th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede

It's that time of year again when July kicks off the annual Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede. This year marks 90 years of ropin, ridin and plenty dirt flyin! So, dust off that Stetson hat and shine up those silver studded belt buckles because this could be one of the wildest rodeos in the west!

This year's events are taking place July 11, 12, and 13 at the Marvin Brookman Stadium.

The rodeo lines offer something for everyone, whether they enjoy the thrill of watching bronc and bull riding, the wild horse race or just cozying up with fellow onlookers and taking in the excitement while enjoying a substantial meal from one of the many tasty concession stands. Spectators will kick up their spurs as they take in all of the professional action.

As rodeo goers enjoy the cascade of entertainment they might need to ask themselves if they are "Tough Enough to Wear Pink?" The rodeo, in collaboration with Northeast Montana Health Services works to raise money to benefit local digital mammography by presenting the Luminary Lighting which takes place in the center of the arena. There, the sky casts a brilliant glow of eternal love, hope and remembrance as nearly 100 luminaries lift off into the night sky.

Early risers can enjoy the Saturday morning benefit Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Lions Club of Wolf Point. The delectable fundraiser benefits the Wolf Point Museum located at 203 U.S. Highway 2.

As professional ropers and racers gear up, the energy and enthusiasm will continue during the presentation of dual Grand Marshals, Bernerd Wanderaas and Eddie Olson. Together, having witnessed nearly every Stampede rodeo to take place, they offer an eye witness account of the rich history associated with the tradition of western rodeo. Together, the World War II veterans and longtime best friends will watch as yet another chapter unfolds, while reminiscing on a lifetime of rodeo going memories.

With nine decades of rodeo excitement and know how, The Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede promises fun for the entire family. Youth can enjoy the endless carnival rides and sweet treats, take part in the stick horse rodeo on the lawn of Faith Lutheran Home and even meet Alyson Grinestaff, Miss Rodeo Montana.

So all you studs, fire up that old pickup, grab your favorite filly and head to Wolf Point to see the most awaited event the year has to offer. Take in the excellence of talented riders and glorious rodeo stock while witnessing a piece of local history. Enjoy carnival amusement and tempt your taste buds with the sweetest treats and tastiest eats.

Be sure to grab your partner and two-step your way down to the Thursday night Street Dance taking place on Main Street. Hold on to your cowboy hat while you take in the local talent during the KVCK Texaco Country Showdown and don't forget to mosey toward the Airport Golf Course for the Stampede Roundup TETWP Golf Tournament.

Rodeo tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth located in the Elk's parking lot or at the stadium for $12, $15 or $17. Youth 12 and under are free.
