Bullock Announces Grant for Wastewater Improvements in Bainville

Montana Governor Steve Bullock announced a $450,000 grant to be awarded to the Town of Bainville to provide necessary upgrades to their wastewater treatment facilities. Given the rapid growth of natural resource extraction in the area, these upgrades have become necessary.

“Folks in Bainville and Roosevelt County can use these funds to ensure their water is clean,” Governor Bullock commented. “We want to support these communities, and updating wastewater infrastructure is a huge step in the right direction.”

The money comes from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which is meant to promote and develop local communities and their ability to provide essential services. Dimensions of the project include upsizing the lift station and providing aerated lagoon treatment.

“We are thankful for the money to make these improvements,” said Bainville Mayor Dennis Portra. “Because of the boom, we’re in perpetual need to expand, and in desperate need of money that allows us to do so. This grant is extremely helpful.”
