Commitment: That is the Secret

Bob and Joan Bell found it: a true love that lasts a lifetime.

Born and raised in Richland County, the couple met in Sidney at a small drive-in café owned and operated by Bob's mother and sister. They were married nearly 60 years ago in Sidney, MT on September 17, 1954. Bob and Joan honeymooned in Yellowstone Park.

The Bells have a very close knit family: 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and they are expecting 3 more great-grandchildren this year. They raised their family on a small family farm east of the Yellowstone River Bridge where they raised cattle, grain and hay.

In addition to farming, both Bob and Joan drove school bus for Rau school district. They also owned Bob's Pick-up and Delivery, a trucking company that delivered freight throughout ND and MT. They sold the company 6 years ago.

"We give our blessings to God for giving us such a great family and a wonderful marriage," commented Joan.

Now that they're retired, Bob loves to visit the coffee shop and has a great interest in the family farm which is still being run by two of their sons. Joan spends her time crafting, gardening, quilting and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

When I asked Joan what the secret to a 60 year marriage was, her response was "Commitment!"
