Keith Steinbeisser Memorial Livestock Judging Contest Held October 12, Winners Announced

The annual Keith Steinbeisser Memorial Livestock Judging Contest was held Sunday, October 12 at the Richland County Fairgrounds. The judging, which used to be held during Ag Days, now takes place in October and gives 4-H members an opportunity to practice their judging skills before the Northern International Livestock Expo (NILE) held in Billings, MT later this month. The judging was moved from Ag Days in January to October because of frigid winter temperatures and conflicts with sports schedules.

Belt buckles sponsored by R&J Ag Supply and the Joe Steinbeisser family were awarded to the top winners of the Senior, Junior and Rookie divisions. Additional prizes included sweatshirts, gift cards and cash, all of which were generously donated by Prewitt and Company, Murdoch's, and Gary and Laura Schieber respectively.

John Helmuth was the top winner of the Senior Division with Taylor Searer taking second. Team winners were Helmuth, Searer, Jordan Baxter and Taylor Schepens. Helmuth also won Senior Top Reasons.

In the Junior Division Trey Schepens was Top with Brook Leidholt coming in second. Junior Team winners were Schepens, Grady Larson, CJ Nevins and Terry Reese. Chase Drange was awarded Top Junior Reasons.

Jaylen Baxter was Top in the Rookie Division; Katharine Hill was awarded second and Rookie team winners included Katharine Hill, Elizabeth Hill, Kendyl Wacha and Beau Rindall. Rookie Top Reasons winner was Elizabeth Hill.
