Harris/Hambro Family Medical Donation For Baby Tucker Diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1

A GoFundMe account has been started by Amber Hambro, mother of 6-month-old Tucker Harris, who has been in the Pediatric ICU since February 17th, 2015. You can donate online at http://www.gofundme.com/oskj2w.

Amber writes, "Hi everyone. This is our 6 month old son Tucker. We have been in the Seattle's children hospital since Feb. 17th. He was recently diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1. The number one cause of death in infants. 80% die before the age of 1 and most don't live to see their 2nd birthday. We would just want to ask for some help for medical bills. Any donations would be very appreciated as well as prayers! Tucker's dad has been off from work because of this too. Thanks very much to anyone has donated. It will help us out a ton!"

Tucker has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. This is a genetic disease that results in symmetric muscle weakness and atrophy. Type 1 children are especially at risk because of the weakness of their lung and chest muscles. A simple cold easily turns into pneumonia, which is what usually takes the lives of these babies. Another risk Tucker is currently fighting against is respiratory failure- meaning he is no longer strong enough to breathe on his own. Tucker is a little fighter, and has not been able to breath comfortably without the support of a BiPAP machine. A BiPAP machine is a breathing apparatus that helps Tucker get more air into his lungs.

As a close family friend of Amber, Justin, and their two children I kindly urge all of our community members, and all friends and family of Justin Harris and Amber Hambro, to rally together and help out a great family in need of our great community's support. There are currently free will donation jars set up at local restaurants and business or donations are welcome online via GoFundMe at http://www.gofundme.com/oskj2w. There has also been an account set up at Stockman Bank of Sidney under the name Justin Harris.

Thank you all who have been so kind and supportive this last month. Feel free to reach me for any further info or updates at [email protected].
