Mercy Medical Center Will Be Adding Starbucks®  Coffee During Cafeteria Renovation This Summer

WILLISTON: – CHI-Mercy Medical Center is pleased to announce a significant enhancement for their patients and visitors. Later this summer Mercy will complete a major renovation of the hospital cafeteria, including the addition of a new coffee bar featuring the 'We Proudly Serve' Starbucks® program. Drink options will include a full line of coffee, espressos and teas.

Mercy will implement these changes through a new contract with Catholic Health Initiatives' and Sodexo which brings new retail and patient menus, service enhancements, state-of-the-art equipment and remodeling of the current cafeteria space. Sodexo will also assist with employee training and operational improvements.

"These dietary changes are intended to improve the hospital experience for our patients, visitors and staff. By late fall 2015, patient menus will be provided through the At Your Request room service program providing new, healthy options and improved service. We look forward to launching these new solutions this summer." stated Emilee Brannan, Dietary Manager.

CHI Mercy Medical Center will implement the new food and nutrition services program in partnership with Sodexo with a goal to:

1. Promote a healthier mix of foods for patients, families and staff

2. Achieve consistent high quality services

3. Increase patient, visitor and employee satisfaction

4. Gain access to new systems and tools to reduce costs, enhance standardization and provide greater efficiency.

Mercy is authorized to create and serve a full line up of Starbucks beverages as part of a business arrangement known as the "We Proudly Serve" model. With this arrangement, Mercy Medical Center owns and operates the coffee bar, and utilizes Starbucks as its coffee vendor. The coffee bar will also feature baked goods, made fresh daily, in-house and will be located within the renovated cafeteria.

"Our dietary staff does an outstanding job providing dietary services for our patients, visitors and staff. We are excited about this partnership and the opportunity to provide healthier menus while also bringing a highly demanded Starbucks coffee option to the community." stated Matt Grimshaw, President of CHI-Mercy Medical Center.

Mercy will be recruiting additional staff to work at the coffee bar. "The key to success is providing an exceptional product made by dedicated employees who pride themselves in making the customer's day better." stated Dan Bjerknes, HR Director. Additional information regarding hours and grand opening date will be available in coming weeks.
