Simonsen Selected as Aspiring Principal Scholarship Award Winner

Nicole Simonsen from Westside Elementary School in Sidney was selected as the recipient of the 2016 Aspiring Principal Scholarship Award at the 65th annual Montana Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals' (MAEMSP) Winter Conference held Jan. 27 - 29, in Helena.

MAEMSP provides an annual Scholarship/Incentive Grant Award of $800 to a student successfully applying to or currently enrolled in an approved course of study for the Master of Education degree in Elementary School Administration. The applicant must have completed three years of successful teaching in elementary or middle school education (K-8) and hold a current Montana Class II teaching certificate.

Nicole, who has been teaching first grade at Westside Elementary for nine years, has been described by her colleagues as an accomplished educator who strives for personal excellence. She displays exemplary leadership abilities while serving on several faculty committees. Her knowledge, competence, and capacity to work with students, parents, and faculty continue to result in positive learning situations. Nicole is a great mentor for all teachers, an exceptional team member, a valued employee, and an irreplaceable member of her community.

MAEMSP and the School Administrators of Montana (SAM) members congratulate Nicole for being selected to receive this award.
