Letter To The Editor

Dear Voters,

My name is Dustin Manuel; this is to announce my candidacy to run for the Fairview School Board. I am asking for your support.

Growing up in New Town, ND I know the challenges of a small town and the importance of a good education. When I was 17 I joined the Army National Guard, serving for 11 years during which time we were deployed to Iraq - 2004-2005. My wife, Sarah and I moved our family to Fairview in 2008 for the small community and better education for our 2 children. There is no reason to doubt the education here, our children enjoy going and have a good attitude about the school. We are so happy we decided to raise our family here. We felt welcome; the people in the community were very warm and friendly to us. In 2016 I joined the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department and during the past 3 years I have also helped coach the Fairview Boxing Club, taking our son, along with others from our team, to boxing matches around the state.

I believe I would make an effective addition to the Fairview School Board. If elected I cannot promise that we will all agree on every aspect but I can say that I will listen to all concerns from all sides, I will be fair and understanding, together we can work through any issues and challenges that lie ahead. I do also believe that building and maintaining a strong educational system that provides students with the strongest tools possible to develop and achieve is a collaborative process that unites administrators, teachers, parents and the community at-large in a common cause.

With your support I hope to serve as your next Fairview School Board member.

Sincerely,

Dustin Manuel
