Cornerstone Bank Celebrates 35 Years and New Building by Giving Back to the Community

Since opening in Watford City 35 years ago, McKenzie County Bank has changed its name to Cornerstone Bank and has moved to a new location, but the bank's commitment to community has remained unchanged.

Scott Swenson, a Founder of McKenzie County Bank and Cornerstone Bank Corporate Board Member, is on the McKenzie County Healthcare Board of Trustees. He says, "Since our inception 35 years ago, we have always maintained a strong commitment to giving back to this community. One of the key components to a thriving community is a strong healthcare system, and we will be helping to raise funds for the new Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit during our new building grand opening, along with thanking our many loyal customers and friends."

The grand opening for Cornerstone Bank's new location is set for September 19-21. All week the bank invites you to bring in your loose change to their coin counter and you may choose to donate it to the Electrocardiogram (ECG) in the Cornerstone Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at the new McKenzie County Healthcare medical facility. Cornerstone Bank will provide matching money for donations.

On Tuesday, September 19, representatives from the McKenzie County Healthcare System as well as Anova Health and Sanford Health will be at the bank with information about the services they provide. At 10:00 a.m. Lieutenant Governor Brent Sanford will be on hand for the flag raising and ribbon cutting. At 5:30 that afternoon, the 5K for $5K Wellness Walk/Run will once again raise money for the ECG at the new medical facility. The walk will begin and end at the Kent Pelton Nature Park. Participants should pre-register at the bank or at https://www.runreg.com/cornerstone. Pre-registrants will receive t-shirts while supplies last. The registration fee is $25 (plus an additional $2.90 for online registration).

"Thank you to Cornerstone for always being steadfast supporters of McKenzie County Healthcare Systems! Not only have they been generous contributors to the new medical facility, but also are excellent at championing local participation, like the walk/run where proceeds will be allocated to an electrocardiogram machine for the new facility," said Daniel Kelly, CEO of McKenzie County Healthcare Systems.

On Wednesday, September 20 the bank is taking time to thank the community as they serve a free BBQ from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. They are also putting "bonus bucks" in their new drive up ATM as an added perk.

The grand opening celebration wraps up on Thursday, September 21 and as the bank is a proud supporter of the school music department, they will host local youth musicians to provide music throughout the day. The Cornerstone Team will also be doing Random Acts of Kindness in the community.

"It's fitting that Thursday is National Gratitude Day. We're so grateful for this community, the healthcare system, the school system and our loyal patrons," says Jane Swenson, a Founder of McKenzie County Bank and Cornerstone Bank Corporate Board Member.
