Join Area Non-Profits in the 2017 #GivingTuesday Movement

The Foundation for Community Care, as well as many other Richland County non-profit organizations, has again joined the annual #GivingTuesday campaign. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. Non-Profits in Richland County participate in #GivingTuesday to provide giving opportunities that have the potential to make a broad impact across the entire community. #GivingTuesday is also a great way to focus on the true spirit of the holidays, and promote philanthropy where it impacts the most, right here at home. For example, gifts to the Foundation for Community Care on #GivingTuesday will benefit the Endowment Fund, which awards annual grants to local healthcare needs throughout Richland County.

“We have been incredibly inspired by the generosity in time, efforts and ideas that occur each year on #GivingTuesday,” said Gina Heckey, Senior Executive of the Foundation for Community Care. “As we embark on our fifth year of participating in #GivingTuesday, we are encouraged by the early response from partners eager to continue making an impact in this giving campaign.” The Foundation will run an hourly donor match on November 28th: Lower Yellowstone Rural Electric Coop will match gifts made between 8am and 10am, Stockman Wealth Management will match all gifts made between 10am and noon, State Farm Agent Michele Herres will match gifts made between noon and 2pm, and Tri-County Implement will match gifts made between 2pm and 4pm. These generous matching gifts will double the impact of giving on #GivingTuesday.

In 2016, millions of people in 98 countries came together to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $177 million was raised worldwide to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness. All non-profits can participate in the #GivingTuesday movement by registering at http://www.givingtuesday.org. Online registration is completely free of charge, and allows donors and volunteers to easily search for causes close to their hearts.
