Cornerstone Bank is proud to announce Vicki Monsen as the Watford City Market President. Originally from Watford City, Monsen not only brings local expertise to her new position, but she also brings a wealth of banking experience. She is committed to supporting the continued growth and success of the Watford City area.

When asked about her new role, Monsen said, "I look forward to continuing to provide our tradition of community banking to our customers and community along with our great team."

Monsen joined the bank while still in high school through a vocational program with the Watford City High School. She returned to the bank as a full time employee in January 1989. She has worked as a Customer Service Representative, a Real Estate Loan Officer and most recently in the Finance Department as the Controller. Monsen holds an associate degree from Interstate Business College and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colorado. She is also a graduate of Rural Leadership North Dakota and has served on the Rural Leadership North Dakota Council.

Monsen is very active in the community through the Watford City Economic Development Corporation, Watford City Housing Authority, 4-H, along with the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee. She has been recognized as an Outstanding Woman in Banking by NorthWestern Financial Review and Prairie Business Magazine. Monsen and her husband Clayton have four children: Ryan, Allison, Karissa & Kaylin. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting.

Scott Swenson, a Founder of McKenzie County Bank and Cornerstone Bank Corporate Board Member, said, "Jane and I have had the pleasure of working with Vicki for over 30 years. She has been successful in every area of the bank and in her many positions in the community. It is exciting and historic for Vicki, starting as a Vocational Office Education student here in 1986 and now moving into the Market President position. We know she will excel in her new role."

Since opening in Watford City 35 years ago, McKenzie County Bank has changed its name to Cornerstone Bank and has moved to a new location, but the bank's commitment to community has remained unchanged. Last summer Cornerstone Bank moved into their new Watford City location at 106 8th Ave SE (on Hwy 85 to the east across from Heggen Equipment) providing a welcoming environment, a drive up ATM that's available 24 hours a day, and convenient parking. McKenzie County Bank was started in Watford City in 1982 by the Darold Petersen family, who also owned and operated Lakeside State Bank in New Town, originating back to 1952. The Petersen family remains Cornerstone Banks' largest shareholder. McKenzie County Bank was formed on the premise of serving the community and helping customers, which remains true today at Cornerstone Bank.

Cornerstone Holding Company, based in North Dakota, is the parent company of Cornerstone Bank. One of North Dakota's ten largest financial institutions, Cornerstone Holding Company is an $820 million financial institution. Cornerstone Bank has 14 locations in North and South Dakota.
