NWND Community Foundation Announces 2018 Grant Awards

The Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation has awarded seven grants totaling $10,000 to worthwhile organizations seeking to improve the quality of life in Williams, Divide, and McKenzie counties. With the grants provided since its inception in 2015, the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation has been able to reinvest over $150,000 into the area.

“There are so many meaningful projects taking place in Williams, Divide, and McKenzie counties, and we are so happy that we are able to support seven local nonprofits through our annual grant round in 2018,” remarked Ward Koeser, President of the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation Board of Directors.

Organizations that were supported include the Fort Union Cooperating Association ($500) to support a summer intern; Community Connections ($1,000) to purchase a computer to support self-sufficiency of vulnerable populations; Divide County Historical Society ($3,000) to relocate a historic gas station to the Crosby Pioneer Village; Crosby Kids Daycare ($1,000) to purchase added storage; Marketplace for Kids ($2,500) to expand programming into Watford City; Bakken Oil Rush Ministry ($1,000) to support its outreach and service efforts; and Save the Maah Daah Hey Foundation ($1,000) to support preservation of Maah Daah Hey Trail.

“It is because of the flexibility of the community foundation structure that the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation is able to support such a variety of organizations that are creating lasting change in our communities. We look to continue this through annual grant rounds in the coming years,” said Koeser.
