Friday and Saturday, June 22-23, Watford Chamber of Commerce will be putting on Watford City Homefest. Watford City's main street will be filled with local area food and craft vendors. This year there will be music by Big Skillet, Merrill Peipkorn and the Radio Stars, plus Tim Ritter and Amanda Johnson. There will be so much to do that it will be impossible to be bored.

It starts Friday at 5 p.m. with music, food and a street dance with music by Big Skillet on Main St. The street dance will end at 1 a.m. the next morning. Saturday will be packed with fun and excitement. The 5K Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Also at 9 a.m., the Andrew Liebel Pancake Breakfast Benefit will run until 1 p.m. at the Civic Center. At 11 a.m. the Watford City Children's and Centennial Park will play host to more music and Watford City's Art in the Park. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Make Slime with Paisley will be going on in the park as well. From noon to 2 p.m. the Lions Club will host lunch while Merrill Peipkorn and the Radio Stars take the stage. At 1 p.m. there will be a baby pageant for infants from 0 to 23 months on the main stage. At 2 p.m. Tim Ritter and Amanda Johnson take over the stage and there will be a sand volleyball tournament. Next at 3 p.m. is the 2nd Annual Pet Parade down Main St. and 5 p.m. will bring a friendly game of Bingo to the main stage and at 8 p.m. Big Skillet returns for another street dance. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be lots more going on at the park. Free art projects for the kids, a quick draw artist raffle, face painting and a chalk walk just to name a few.

In 1989, Watford City had had their 75th Anniversary as a city. People got together afterward and decided that they enjoyed the festivities so much that they wanted to try to have something like that every year, so they started the Homefest. It has remained a yearly event to welcome those who have wandered and returned and to welcome those who have visited and stayed. For more information visit the Watford City Chamber's website at watfordcitychamber.com and look under events for the Homefest. The chamber can also be contacted on their Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/wcndchamber/ or call 701-570-5084 for more information.
