    Lt. Michael Schmitz was fired on December 30 by the interim sheriff of McKenzie County, Matthew Johansen. The deputy had already been suspended from the department in October. Schmitz, a three year veteran of the department, was scheduled for a hearing with the McKenzie County Commission to address allegations of bullying made by an independent firm that had done a workplace investigation within the department in the summer of 2016.     Dave Hansen Arena & Arden Berg Community Rink Naming Ceremony will start on ice at 7 pm at the Rough Rider Center hockey rink in Watford City.     The Sidney Wrestling Club took 22 wrestlers to the AAU Winter Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska under coach Shane Gorder. The team did extremely well and placed 7th out of 172 teams. This tournament is an AAU National competition and is called the Battle for the Belt. Sidney’s Aden Graves came home a national champion and the winner of the Winter Nationals Belt.     The Three Buttes 4-H club made cookie baskets to give away to the local Lambert community, for a Christmas community project. We gave away around 27 baskets. Each basket held an assortment of cookies, brownies, candies and other holiday treats. We rolled them into a clear bag, tied a fancy ribbon around and hung two ornaments painted by the members of the Three Buttes 4-H Club.
