The J.K. Ralston Preservation Committee is actively working to protect the iconic J.K. On behalf of the Richland County Commissioners, REDC Executive Director Leslie Messer applied for, and the county was approved for, a $45,000 grant from the Big Sky Economic Development arm of the Montana Coal Tax Fund. According to avid baseball fan, Ross Rosaaen, the old scoreboards quit working several years ago, diminishing the experience for fans. Richland County taxpayers can expect to receive an amended property tax statement within the next few weeks. The new tax bills are the result of the November 2023 Montana Supreme Court ruling in favor of Governor Gianforte and the Montana Department of Revenue (DOR), and against the 49 of Montana’s 56 counties that revolted against the DOR and refused to collect the full 95 mill state-level school equalization levy. Richland County and the State of Montana have completed the Draft copy of our new 2024 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan looks at Eastern Montana as a whole, as well as each individual County, and helps to identify natural and man-made disasters while assisting in identifying projects that can be done to help mitigate the dangers of those disasters.
