Glendive Man Receives Montana Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award

Kenny Nemitz, Glendive, received the Distinguished Service Award during the Montana Farm Bureau Annual Convention at the Hilton Garden Inn, Missoula. Nemitz, a Farm Bureau member for more than 30 years, has held many offices with the Dawson-Wibaux County Farm Bureau. He has served on the Mountain West Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance board for 20 years. He is a member of the Yellowstone River Conservation District Council board and is chairman of Lower Yellowstone River Development Board. He has been a member of the Society for Range Management for more than 20 years.

Nemitz was born and raised on the same ranch where he has lived for 77 years. He and his wife, Lillian, have been married for 57 years. They have five sons, two of whom are still on the family ranch. They have 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. They raise cattle, sheep and horses. At one time Nemitz bred registered Herefords, registered Red Salers and registered quarter horses. Currently, he’s breeding a Saler-Angus cross. This enterprising rancher has put in a private irrigation system to help grow feed and water for livestock and wildlife. He has worked had to improve range lands.

He has been a lifetime member of Moose Lodge 949 and is active in his community, along with remaining very involved in local, state and national agricultural issues.

“It’s a real honor to recognize Kenny Nemitz with this prestigious award,” noted Montana Farm Bureau President Bob Hanson. “He values the land and has been a good steward not only of the land, but a good steward to his livestock, wildlife, family and community.”
