Active Parenting For Step Families Parenting Class Offered

Getting married is the easy part! When a step family is formed, everyone needs to learn new rules: Mom and Dad need to learn how to work together as a team. Children and teens must adapt to changes. Everyone needs to build good relationships with new family members.

Active Parenting for Step Families can help! This video-based discussion program is designed to help couples work together to raise children in the challenging stepfamily environment.

Active Parenting for Step Families will be held on Monday evenings, Jan. 9, 23, 30 and Feb. 6 at the McKenzie County Courthouse meeting room, Watford City.

Each session will start at 6 p.m. and conclude by 9 p.m. Cost to attend is $10 per person and this includes an evening snack and class materials. Pre-registration is requested by Friday, Jan. 6 at the McKenzie County Extension Office. Please call 701-444-3451 or e-mail Extension Agent Marcia Hellandsaas at [email protected] to pre-register or receive more information.

This program will introduce powerful communication and negotiation skills to strengthen marriage and family. Skills introduced would also be valuable for foster parents, adoptive parents, single parents and others affected by loss and change.
