Sidney Students Take Part In National Financial Literacy Month

In celebration of National Financial Literacy Month, Caryn Fehilly’s finance classes took part in the online National Financial Capability Challenge. In today’s economic times, increasing the financial knowledge and skills of American youth is critical to their futures and to the future financial stability of our country. The Challenge was taken by more than 80,000 high school students. Participants included students in rural areas, suburbs, and inner cities across the country, and in Department of Defense schools around the world. The results reinforce our belief that there is more work to be done to prepare our young people for the financial future that awaits them.

The average score of the SHS students was 85%; with the national average being 69%.

Certificates from the national organization were awarded to the SHS students who scored in the top 20% nationwide. Cruz Aguilar and Ciara Parks were the top SHS competitors with 95% and 93% respectively.
