2012 Basin United Way Campaign in Full Swing

On November 15th, The Basin United Way announced they had just reached 25% of their $250,000 campaign goal for 2012. With just over $63,000 collected, the board has confidence and faith in the community that they’ll be able to reach their target by the end of the year.

Each year, thousands of individuals, organizations and businesses come together in efforts to raise money to help the United Way help their local communities in the areas needed most. The Basin United Way currently supports thirty-one agencies which will each receive allocations from the funds collected this year.

Medrein Sandvold, Executive Secretary for the Basin United Way, is very proud to see so many promising things taking place in this year’s campaign: The board has increased their efforts and stepped up to do everything possible to reach their goal, new businesses are doing in house campaigns, there is increased awareness and involvement in the community and they have many new donors approaching them.

The American State Bank has been a backbone for the United Way by providing office space, phone service, participating in a 100% employee match program and by being the #1 contributor to their organization. Their support not only shows their commitment but it also shows how much they believe in the United Way program and in their community as a whole.

In efforts to meet their campaign goal, the board has held many fund raisers, with one of the ongoing fundraisers being, “Stick Together, Live United.” The Williston Middle School Honor Society students and youth group members from the First Lutheran Church in Williston have been making and selling unique, one-of-a-kind pins out of colored duct tape for a suggested donation of $5-$10 per pin. Each pin is attached to a post card which states, “When we stick together, with unity in the community, we are stronger and can improve the conditions in which we live.”

Board members and team captains are currently selling raffle tickets for $2.00 each to help reach the 2012 campaign goal. Prizes are:
