December Events at the Richland Co. Library

Richland County is your source for holiday fun and prizes. We’ve got something for everyone to get you out of the house and involved this month, and it should also get you (and us) in the holiday spirit.

First, we have two month-long contests. Throughout the month, we’ll be accepting and displaying entries for our gingerbread house contest in the library. This year’s theme is “Tell us your favorite holiday story in gingerbread!” and you can enter individually or as a group. We’ll have prizes for the “People’s Choice” and best entries in each age category as determined by our guest judges. Want to show off your sweet architecture skills? Get an entry form today at the library or online at http://www.richland.org/spl.

But the fun doesn’t stop there, because we’re also hosting an Ugly Christmas Sweater Facebook Extravaganza online. Just stop by the Library between now and December 19th and we’ll take your picture to put on our Facebook page. Be sure to share it with your friends, because the person with the most likes on December 20th will win a coffee card!

If contests aren’t your thing, or maybe you just need out of the house, we also have some great family-friendly movie matinees planned. From 2-4pm on December 15th we’ll watch It’s a Wonderful Life and on December 22nd from 2-4pm, we’ll watch the cartoons Rudoplh, The Grinch, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Anyone is welcome, and the popcorn is on us!

To wrap everything up, our Holiday Open House is December 20th from 4-7pm. You’ll be able to take a photo with Shea the Reading Dog (as Mrs. Claws) at 6:30pm, congratulate our Ugly Sweater and Gingerbread winners, and enjoy some Christmas stories starting at 5:30pm.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at 433-1917 or visit us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/sidneyrichlandlibrary. Have a great holiday season and we’ll see you at the Library!
