Brie and Corey have a bright future ahead of them. Young and in love, the beautiful nursing student and strong career Army soldier are planning their wedding and looking forward to life together. Even the unexpected death of Brie’s father doesn’t shake the rock of their relationship…it brings them closer together as Brie learns to rely on Corey’s steadfast tenderness. But Fate has other plans for them. A snowmobile trip begins a ride that will change the rest of their lives. While Corey is enjoying the snowmobile, Brie hears the unmistakable, terrifying sound of an avalanche. Desperately, she tries to outrun the thundering wave of snow, swimming for her life through a white water river of ice and death. Buried in what feels like a pool of concrete, she drifts in and out of consciousness, with one thought uppermost in her mind: What happened to Corey? Hours later at the hospital, Brie finds a unique perspective on life as she struggles to process what has happened to her, to Corey, and to their dream of a life together, while friends, family, and hospital staff are brought together in unexpected ways by a tragedy nobody foresaw…and by miracles nobody could have imagined. This beautifully characterized and fast-moving novel will take you through a remarkable emotional saga that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last.

Home should be a safe place for every child. But sometimes, things go terribly wrong. For Kathryn, home has changed. The first eight years of her life were fairly normal, although her family didn’t have a lot of money. But then tragedy struck when her mother died of breast cancer. The burdens of grief, medical bills, and single parenting have turned her father into someone she doesn’t know. One night, a downward spiral is the impetus for a change in her life that she never could have expected. Kathryn is sent to live with Sam and Emma, who will be her foster parents while her father gets help. Follow Kathryn’s journey as she discovers a different life and finds her best friend: Kaisha, a Border Collie who turns out to be the most dedicated, loving hero to a little girl who needs someone on her side.
