Ribfest 2013 Set For Aug. 9 in Watford City

The Ribfest 2013 Planning Committee has set Friday, August 9th for this year’s event on Main Street, Watford City.

Concessions and the Street Fair will start at 10 a.m. and the rib contest will take place at 5 p.m.

A $1,000 prize will be awarded for the team with the best ribs. Second place will receive $500 and there will be a $250 prize for booth showmanship. The public will also get a chance to vote for their favorite ribs and the winning team will receive Ribfest T-shirts and the coveted “People’s Choice” award.

The day will be filled with live music from local talent Jessie Veeder, Lonesome Willy, Getting’ Outta Dodge and Jeff Meyer. Other events include inflatable kids’ games, train rides, a dunk tank and a children’s “Showdown” at noon where prizes will be awarded for the best western wear.

The public will also enjoy the Classic Car Show and a few friendly rounds of Bingo during the day. There will be street vendors and several ping pong drops that will offer special deals from Main Street businesses. The night will end with a street dance featuring the national touring band “Smokehouse” on Main Street at 8 p.m.

“This event has quickly become a huge success and it gets bigger and better each year,” said Janel Lee, committee member. “It’s a great way to unwind, engage in friendly competition and celebrate the best things about summer and our community.”

The Best of the West Ribfest is limited to 20 teams. Teams, food and craft vendors and Classic Car Show participants may register online at http://www.watfordcityribfest.net.
