MDT Proposes a Minor Rehabilitation Project on MT 200 from Sidney to Fairview, Montana - Richland County

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to rehabilitate and improve safety on 9.7 miles of Highway 200, between Sidney and Fairview, Montana in Richland County.  The project begins just north of the Holly Street intersection in Sidney, at reference marker 52.6 and extends north for 9.7 miles ending just south of Fairview at reference marker 62.3.

Proposed work includes safety improvements at four county road intersections (turn lanes) and the addition of passing lanes near the midpoint of the segment. In addition, the existing surface will be milled and receive an asphalt overlay and seal and cover (chip seal) treatment.  Pavement markings, signage and guardrail will be upgraded.  Construction is tentatively planned for 2016 depending on completion of design and availability of funds.  New right-of-way and relocation of utilities will be required.  As a consultant for MDT, DOWL HKM staff or representatives will contact all affected landowners prior to doing survey work on their land.  MDT staff will contact landowners prior to construction regarding property acquisition and temporary construction permits.

For more information, please contact Project Design Engineer Doug Enderson, DOWL HKM at (406) 869-6337 or MDT Glendive District Administrator Shane Mintz at (406) 345-8212 or MDT Consultant Project Engineer Jacquelyn Smith at (406) 444-7694.  For the hearing impaired, the TTY number is (406) 444-7696 or 1-800-335-7592, or call the Montana Relay at 711.  Members of the public may submit written comments to the Montana Department of Transportation Glendive district office at PO Box 890, Glendive MT  59330-0890, or online at
