2nd Annual Parade of Homes Set for September 29

Brenda Larson and the staff of Creative Solutions are busy putting the final touches on this year’s Parade of Homes which will take place on Sunday, September 29. The project is a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Richland County to help them fund a much needed permanent home. Last year the event raised $10,000 and Larsen is hoping to increase that amount. Dura Supreme has generously agreed to sponsor the event again this year, allowing ALL ticket sales to go directly to the club.

Six local homeowners have graciously agreed to open their homes to the public. They are Lee & Kelly Alvstad, 118 15th Ave. SW, Sidney; Conrad & Linda Conradsen, 10761 CR 344, Savage; Justin and Tammy Jones, 303 2nd Ave. SW, Sidney; Dennis and Brenda Marker, 1576 11th Ave. SW, Sidney; Brady and Nicki Reuter, 11151 CR 345, Savage; Shawn and Tanya Rost, 136 Washington St., Crane. The homes highlight the work of talented local contractors, and mostly locally purchased materials.

Each home features remodeling based on the owner’s style. The Jones house is a historical home which has been completely remodeled, Markers’ remodel was inspired by their trip to Europe, Conradsen’s home is a walking art gallery, and Allstad’s house has been completely flip flopped. Alvstads and Markers have garages the men will drool over, while some of the homes feature unique cool bathrooms. Reuters’ home has fabulous custom texturing and a gorgeous wood staircase. Rosts took the old Tanglen house and completely redid the inside, while keeping some unique features such as the windows and exposed brick.

Participants may start at any home on the tour. Most of the homes have stairs and are not handicap accessible. Shoes and bare feet are not allowed. Booties will be available at each location.

The main contractors from each home hope to be on site, as well as representatives from Dura Supreme, Life Span Closets and more. Any contractor wishing to highlight their business with an ad in the Parade of Homes Booklet is asked to contact Larson as soon as possible at 488-1461.

Tickets are on sale now for just $15 at Creative Solutions, TriFecta Home Center, The Sidney Herald and the Boys and Girls Club of Richland County. Tickets will be available the day of the show at Creative Solutions for $20. At the last home on the tour, participants are asked to drop off their stamped tickets which will go into a drawing for the grand prize. Last year’s winner was Joyce Wicorek of Fairview who won a knife set valued at over $500.

Plan now to spend a fun day touring these unique homes, and help the children of Richland County at the same time!
