To the Editor:

The E-rase your E-waste committee would like to thank everyone who participated in our spring and fall 2013 “E-rase your E-waste” e-cycling events, particularly the Fairview community which held their first collection event this past spring. We’ve had another great year, with a grand total of 42,049 pounds of e-waste collected for recycling!

That’s more than 21 TONS of e-waste that DIDN’T go into our local landfill again this year! That e-waste included an estimated 16,464 pounds of plastics, 4,511 pounds of lead and 0.696 pounds of mercury.

Our thanks to everyone who made it possible: our participants, our volunteers, our local media, both print and broadcast, our sponsors and our new e-cycler, Yellowstone Solutions Inc., which enables us to support a Montana business and still provide free e-cycling for our community.

The organizing committee also wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Richland County Solid Waste and Disaster and Emergency Services departments for providing the space and logistical support for our 2013 events, and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality for providing promotional support. We’d also like to thank volunteers Jill Miller and Butch Renders for their help with this year’s event.

Again, thanks to everyone for making the 2013 “E-rase your E-waste” effort another big success! As always, we look forward to working with you again next year!

Jackie Couture and Cindy Eleson
