Watford City 100 Years and Counting

Watford City will celebrate its 100th year in June 2014 with a week-long Homefest Celebration. The celebration will kick off on Thursday, June 26th at 10 a.m. with many events planned throughout the week including: a Centennial Parade, an ice cream social, golf scramble & steak fry, Heritage Days, Art in the Park, Kids activities, Film Festival, Arts & Crafts, Food Vendors, Centennial Homefest Run and lots of Main Stage Events.

Per the Watford City Centennial website, “The mission and goal of all Centennial Events are to celebrate the lives of the city’s residents, acknowledge the many regional and national contributions in agriculture and energy development and remember the heritage and culture of the area.”

A Centennial Club was formed to honor folks born in or before 1938.

A Centennial Book is in the works and will be portraying many historical stories about families, business and organizations. Businesses, individuals or civic groups can place an advertisement in the Centennial book in memory of a family member or friend, honoring a loved one or acknowledging a current or past Watford City business. For more information on advertising in the Centennial Book, contact Doug Bolken at 701-444-5804.

Centennial merchandise will be available to purchase soon. If you’d like an updated schedule of the Centennial Homefest Celebration, log in to http://www.watfordcitycentennial.com.
