QEP was recently recognized by the Industrial Commission of North Dakota for contributing $1 million to help the Housing Incentive Fund (HIF) create affordable housing for essential service workers in western North Dakota. Of the $1 million donated, $515,401 went to support the development of Arrowhead Estates in Arnegard and the remaining $484,599 went towards the second phase of the Williston State College Foundation Development.
Arrowhead Estates will consist of 16 three-bedroom, two-bathroom, twin homes: eight of which will be reserved for essential service personnel and the remaining eight will be designated as affordable housing where income restrictions will apply. The development will be located near the Arnegard City Park.
QEP Resources Stakeholder Relations Advisor, Lynn Welker, states, "QEP heard about the program and wanted to help by contributing funds to the Housing Incentive Fund. It's challenging to bring in roles vital to community success such as teachers, law enforcement personnel, emergency workers, etc. when having to compete with oilfield wages. The HIF helps to insure these essential workers are able to afford housing."
Matt Thompson, Vice President of QEP Energy's Northern Region states, "QEP Resources is excited and thankful for the opportunity to contribute $1 million to support the state's affordable housing development program." He adds, "As we safely and responsibly develop North Dakota's natural resources, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of the state's local communities through programs like the Housing Incentive Fund."
