McKenzie Building Center Celebrates 80th Anniversary, Builds New Inside Drive-Through Storage And Actively Seeks Add-On Acquisitions

McKenzie Building Center, Inc., or MBCI as it has become known around the Bakken, has been serving Northwest North Dakota and McKenzie County now for 80 years, supplying professional builders, the oilfield, homeowners and residents with lumber and building material needs for new construction, remodeling and home improvement.

"2014 marks a historic year for MBCI. Throughout our 80 years in business, we have become the total building material supplier to the construction, remodeling and oilfield market in McKenzie County, and with our buying power, we offer the most competitive pricing and largest lines of credit to commercial customers in the industry," said Charlie Rader, Chief Operating Officer.

"We will be celebrating our 80th anniversary with special buys, promotions and events throughout the year and we'll be kicking off the spring 2014 season with our first annual Customer and Vendor Appreciation Event in April," Rader added.

MBCI has been a fixture in McKenzie County starting in 1934 as Great Plains Supply and then changing its name in 1996 to better reflect its location in McKenzie County, in Watford City.

MBCI is a full line supplier of all types of building materials ranging from lumber, timbers, drywall/sheetrock, concrete products, doors, roofing, plumbing, electrical, rebar, steel beams, insulation, rig mats, hardware, windows, flooring, paint, cabinets and all types of metal buildings which can be custom made to the buyer's specifications.

"We built the inside drive-through storage building for critical materials for easy pick up by customers in all types of weather and to provide all weather storage adding significantly to our customer's need of having fast, and efficient loading of materials," said Joe Johnson, VP of Operations.

"Additionally, delivery is available by truck or boom truck that unloads materials to higher floors or job sites and we can arrange for full truck load orders to be shipped directly from the mill or manufacturer right to the customer's job site," added Johnson.

"We also carry all types of farm and ranch supplies, fencing, posts and gates, and have added a full line of rig mats, for sale or rental for our drilling and pipeline customers, however, these can also be used on farms and ranches to provide better all weather use of driveways, access points or areas needing ground support," said Rader. The company rents or sells the rig mats to users at manufacturer's pricing and coordinates installs as required.

MBCI offers many services to assist in all phases of construction ranging from initial consultation to planning the entire project and estimate of all material costs, and MBCI's expansion has created many job openings for experienced inside and outside salesmen and yard staff.

Most importantly, builders, oil field companies, developers and farmers can establish a line of credit at MBCI that allows for up to 60 day payment terms for all purchases at MBCI, "so as not to have the customer use cash or their existing credit cards, therefore adding convenience and efficiency to the customer's experience at MBCI," added Mr. Rader.

"As a company we have thrived, and are actively seeking to expand MBCI through additional acquisitions. We are aggressively seeking to acquire other Lumber Yards and Building Material Suppliers, throughout North Dakota," stated MBCI Chairman, Eric Sparrow.
