MFU to Hold Farm Bill Education Meetings

It was two years in the making, but the Farm Bill finally did pass.

“The bill contained more than 400 references to decisions that U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack needed to make before numerous programs could be implemented,” said MFU President Alan Merrilll.  “Consequently, we waited for a few months to allow some of the details to be worked out in Washington, D.C. before providing the educational tools farmers and ranchers need.”

Chandler Goule, Senior V.P. of Programs for National Farmers Union, will be in Montana in early June to present several Farm Bill updates.

The meeting dates are as follows:

Wednesday, June 4, in Lewistown at the Yogo Inn at noon.  This presentation is part of the MFU Mid-Year meeting and pre-registration is required.  Register online at http://www.montanafarmersunion.com.

Thursday, June 5, in Glendive at the Comfort Inn at 7 PM.

Friday, June 6, in Miles City, at the Sleep Inn at 10 AM.

Friday, June 6, in Billings, at the Holiday Inn at 3:30 PM.

The final three meetings are free and open to the public.  Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the latest from Washington, D.C. about the 2014 Farm Bill implementation.
