Airport loan and grant applications now online

Montana is home to a variety of airports across the state. While differing in size, they serve a similar and important function: providing air transportation for all traveling purposes in the state. Each airport also plays an important role by providing critical services and support to the local economy. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)’s Aeronautics Division offers assistance to smaller Montana airports in a variety of ways including providing loans and grants for needed construction or repairs. This financial assistance can make a critical difference in daily operations for these airports and supporting them in making air service widely available across the state. Now with an online application process, small airport owners and managers can enjoy convenience in applying for loans, grants and stipends for provision of courtesy cars.

The application process is streamlined to save time and effort for airport owners and managers by walking applicants through a series of simple questions. During the process, assistance and contact information is offered. Once the application has been reviewed and submitted, the process is complete without requiring stamps or paper. “We’re excited about the convenience and efficiency this online process will offer airport sponsors, the Aeronautics Board and MDT,” said Debbie Alke, MDT’s Aeronautics Division Administrator. The loan and grant applications were built by MDT’s Aeronautics and Information Services Division in partnership with Montana Interactive.

The loans and grants application is available at Loan and Grant Application - Department of Transportation . An application for a stipend to be applied to the purchase of a courtesy car for airports without 24 hour publicly available transportation services has also been created and can be found at Courtesy Car - Department of Transportation or at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/business/grants.shtml. Both sites require discrete login credentials provided to each public-use airport owner by MDT.
