McKenzie County Food Pantry Helping Those in Need

Since 2010 the McKenzie County Food Pantry has seen the number of families needing assistance climb. The number of households served this year has more than doubled since last year. 

The Backpack Program was started last year to provide kid-friendly, shelf stable food for children to take home from school and eat over the weekend.  The purpose of the program is to provide food for children when there are no other means to.  The program serves elementary children in Alexander and Watford City.

The pantry is always in need of donations. Below is a list of items needed to keep the pantry stocked over the holiday season: canned fruit - fruit cocktail, pears, peaches, canned beans - pork & beans, canned vegetables -corn, green beans, carrots, canned soup - beef stew, chicken noodle, Ramen Noodles - Beef & Chicken, pasta/meals - canned tuna, Mac & Cheese Dinner, canned beef ravioli, spaghetti, elbow macaroni, other - crackers (other than Saltines), chicken gravy mix packets, pancake syrup, raisins, Snack Pack puddings, grape jelly, vegetable oil, beverages - 64 oz. bottle shelf stable apple juice, personal care Items - bar soap, dish soap, shampoo, deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.
