New Hotels Look Forward to Their Futures in the Community

Candlewood Suites, an extended stay hotel, opened June 3, 2014 and for the last six months has been servicing their guests with all the amenities of a home away from home.

Each of the 114 rooms features a full-sized kitchen complete with a stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, dishes, pots and pans. The hotel also offers a Lending Locker where guests may borrow specifically needed items like crock-pots, blenders, board games, jumper cables and extra vacuums. The Business Center offers an office area and a Fitness Center and complimentary laundry facilities are located within the hotel, striving to give their guests all the conveniences of home. Locker-style mudrooms are available with showers and designated greaser washers and dryers. The Candlewood Cupboard, an onsite convenience store carries complimentary coffee and frozen and dried goods. Candlewood Suites is a pet-friendly hotel with a gazebo behind the building that has two barbeque grills and a sitting area.

"We have done really well and are keeping most of the rooms full," said General Manager Natalie Rucshner. "It's only getting better and we've gotten positive community feedback." She adds that anyone is welcome to stop by for a tour.

Joe Russell and Brad Talcott in conjunction with the investment group Sidney Extended Stay, LLC broke ground for the hotel in October of 2013. Since it's opening, Candlewood Suites has recognized the importance of community involvement, becoming a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and sponsoring two PBR events as well as two MMA events. Rucshner is also a member of the Tourism Business Improvement District; a tax added to each hotel room that generates money. The board decides how to best use those funds to bring people to the area.

Candlewood Suites is located at 201 6th St. NW in Sidney, MT and anyone with questions or in need of a reservation can contact them at 406-482-9692.

The Wingate Hotel by Wyndham is planning on opening for business in June of 2015, weather permitting. Construction on the hotel began in June of 2014 at 1500 S Central Ave Sidney, MT, 59270 located next to the Microtel Inn and Suites. Both are Wyndham facilities and will be managed by Crystal Denton who currently is the General Manager of the Microtel.

The Wingate, an upper midscale property, will have 75 rooms and four meeting rooms accommodating approximately 50 people per room. It will provide larger guest rooms with plenty of up-graded amenities such as the latest-greatest broad band internet, a larger fitness center, a hot tub, and access to the pool in the Microtel, as the two Wyndham facilities have adjoined parking lots.

"Our goal is to establish ourselves as the hospitality center for Sidney," commented Steve Sparks who is overseeing the building process as the managing partner of Presidential Hospitality.

Sparks commends the city and county for making infrastructure a priority to the bustling community and notes that he is excited about the future of Sidney and Richland County. Having the support of the city planners and County Commissioners has been a key component to their success and both establishments are pleased to be actively involved with the Chamber of Commerce.

The decision was made to move forward with the project after hospitality studies showed that additional services were needed in the area. Hotel officials have gotten favorable feedback from the community and are excited to offer services that set them apart.

Approximately 17 positions will be filled through the Job Service prior to opening day.

"We want to be the place where people want to work," commented Denton and added, "I don't doubt that it will be busy; the Wingate is definitely going to be a different product."
