Sonnenbergs Look Forward To Serving Sidney's Community

Matt and Rachel Sonnenberg are embracing their new life here, in Sidney, MT. With both of them beginning new ventures in their careers, they are looking forward to making the community their home. After accepting the position of Associate Pastor at the Lutheran Brethren Church, the Sonnenbergs left Fergus Falls, MN where Matt Sonnenberg attended seminary, and moved into the parsonage. Matt Sonnenberg, originally from Canada, interviewed for the position in November 2014 and the couple moved to Sidney the beginning of January 2014.

Shortly after the move, Rachel Sonnenberg was hired as the Executive Director of the Sunrise Women's Clinic. Having a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling, she feels the position is a good fit.

"This job allows me to use my degrees and pursue my personal passions," said Rachel Sonnenberg of her position.

Originally from Arizona, she appreciates the small-town feel of Sidney and both she and her husband are looking forward to serving the community.

Matt Sonnenberg concurs, "Sidney is big enough to have plenty of resources, but small enough that people get to know each other. We are here to minister, serve and contribute to this community."

Matt Sonnenberg is responsible for Wednesday night Bible Studies, preaching and eventual community outreach. His installation service will be held on Sunday, February 8 at 11:00 am and everyone is invited to attend. He also extends an invitation to their Wednesday night Bible Studies at 7:00 pm which begin with a complimentary meal at 5:45; Children's Ministries and Youth group are also held at this time for anyone with kids.

"Everyone in the congregation has been very welcoming," said Matt Sonnenberg.

Rachel Sonnenberg is gearing up for the Baby Bottle Drive where empty baby bottles are dropped off at local churches and returned as they are filled with donations; it is one of three fundraising events the clinic holds each year. The Sunrise Women's Clinic provides pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and alternative support in addition to their Earn While You Learn classes, where expectant mothers receive points for attending and can use those points for baby clothes, diapers and wipes. Anyone interested in donating can call 406-433-7772 or email [email protected].

The newly married couple are excited to begin their lives here in Eastern Montana and look forward to the opportunities they have in their new-found home.
