Clean Williston Day Planned April 25

Williston will celebrate springtime with a City-wide cleanup and barbeque on Saturday, April 25.

Clean Williston Day is held every spring and fall to bring people together for a common cause that helps boost the community's spirit.

"The spring cleanup makes us proud of our City, it reminds us not to litter, and it's a great way to kick off the summer," says Williston Mayor Howard Klug.

The Clean Williston Committee will run the operation from the parking lot of Davidson Park and Aafedt Stadium. The site will be manned from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Volunteers may pick up supplies such as trash bags, gloves and safety vests as well as their free t-shirts (while supplies last) at the site. A complimentary lunch will be provided at the same location beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Generous donations from civic and private groups have contributed to the cleanup's success.

"We're very proud to partner with so many organizations and private companies to help with Clean Williston Day," says Scott Meske, Williston Area Chamber of Commerce President. "What a great way to show your community pride by taking some time to clean it up once or twice per year. It's amazing what we can accomplish by working together."

Volunteers are always needed during the cleanup campaign. The committee urges residents to organize family, friends, co-workers, schools or religious groups to help beautify the City during Clean Williston Week April 25 through May 2 or Clean Williston Day on Saturday, April 25. Volunteers may pre-register for a specific zone or ask the committee for help.

"We encourage everyone to take part in the cleanup; from large groups to individuals. Every piece of trash that's picked up helps make a big difference," says Ann Kvande, Clean Williston Coordinator. "Even if you aren't able to assist in the larger cleanup we encourage you to pick up around your workplace, school or residence."

Community members are also urged to get rid of used tires, electronics and scrap metal. ABCO Recycling and Pacific Steel & Recycling will have drop boxes available for the noncommercial disposal of select items.

In the event of inclement weather on April 25, Clean Williston Day will be held on Saturday, May 2. For additional details visit the Clean Williston website or contact Ann Kvande at 701-577-8110 or [email protected].
