Father Shinnick Benefit May 31st

Father Edward “Ned” Shinnick was diagnosed in January 2015 with esophageal cancer. The diagnostic workup and treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, and possible surgery) have been expensive, and have taken their toll on his legendary vitality. He is bravely dealing with this issue. He has appreciated all of your prayers and concerns. As you know, he has been a dedicated servant to the regional church community (Catholics and other churches) and has been a strong force for “community building” since his arrival here from Ireland in 1956. In 2016 he will be officially celebrating 60 years as a Roman Catholic priest. He did not become a priest for monetary reasons, but that does not alleviate him from the burden of paying for his medical and living expenses. It is for this reason that the local Knights of Columbus (Council #3002) are planning a “Pancake Benefit Breakfast for Father Ned” from 11 AM to 2 PM on Sunday, May 31st, 2015. This event will be held at the St. Matthew’s Parish Center located at 310 7th St SE in Sidney MT.

We hope that you be able to attend this event and voice your appreciation and support for Father Ned. If you are not able to attend, then you can mail your tax deductible contributions to: Knights of Columbus, Council #3002, with the memo “Fr Ned Expense Fund,” to the address listed above. The Knights of Columbus will be donating the costs associated with this benefit, and a separate checking account has been established on Ned’s behalf. There will also be a Silent Auction. You are invited to drop off auction items to Stacie Olson at the St Matt’s Parish Center. Virtually everyone knows and appreciates Fr Ned. We all want to express our gratitude for everything he has done over the years. Thanks in advance for your generous support of this worthy cause.
