Eagle Country Ford, in conjunction with the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign, is collecting jars of peanut butter to support the summer demand for kid-friendly foods at the Richland County Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Club of Richland County.
Buy a jar of peanut butter at any store and bring it to Reynolds Market in Sidney to help fill the trunk of the Ford Focus. Jars may also be dropped off at Eagle Country Ford, 215 East Main St., Sidney.
Marissa Schoepp of Eagle Country Ford expressed deep appreciation to Reynolds Market for hosting the event. "We're really thankful to Reynolds for letting us do that," she said. "They are great supporters of everything in this community."
The peanut butter drive, which runs through Saturday June 13, is in response to the increased demand for this expensive staple during the summer months when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24% of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided and when school is out during the summer months, local food banks carry a larger responsibility to feed kids. Peanut butter is difficult to acquire in adequate quantities.
This drive is part of a five-state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support their community food banks and to make sure no child goes hungry this summer. Started in 2103, the Ford Focus on Child Hunger has provided more than one million meals and snacks to hungry kids in the Pacific Northwest.
