Triangle Electric: Wired for Success

WILLISTON: For nearly seven decades Triangle Electric has been a family owned business, serving the western North Dakota and eastern Montana regions. The company began in 1946 and then in 1947 owners Harold Hoffelt, Oscar Stenehjem, and Selmer Johnson placed an ad in the Williston Herald offering a reward to the person who choose the best name for their company, thus became Triangle Electric.

When the oil and gas exploration began in North Dakota in the early 1950′s, Triangle Electric was well established and participated in the first major oil boom in the Williston Basin.

Through the years the ownership of the company has been held by members of the Hoffelt family. In 1978, Donn Hoffelt, an electrical engineer, joined his father Harold and brother Dennis in the business. Following Harold's retirement in 1980 and Dennis's retirement in 1996, Donn became sole proprietor and currently serves as company president. Under Donn's management and guidance, Triangle Electric has grown from approximately 50 employees in 2008 to approximately 400 electricians and support staff to date.

Triangle Electric's electricians service the oilfield, commercial and residential customers and do service call work. An after-hours answering service will connect you to one of their on-call electricians who are available 24/7 to respond when issues arise.

The company has a nearly 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse stocked with a wide range of electrical parts. They also stock an abundant supply of electrical motors for pumping units, hazardous locations, and many other applications.

In addition to all of this, Triangle Electric is the parent company of Telemasters and Industrial Automation.

Telemasters has a full line of Security Systems and installations, as well as complete Business Phone Systems. They provide service throughout the Bakken in the following areas:

All Low Voltage Requirements

Fire Alarm

Home Entertainment Systems

Network Cabling

Office Phone and Data Systems

Security Systems / CCTV

Industrial Automation, a U.L. listed panel shop with the capability to write custom programs, custom PLC fabrication and SCADA / Communication Systems, was founded in 2008 and currently employs several dedicated panel builders and many skilled field technicians.

Triangle Electric contributes their nearly seven decades of success to their employees. General Manager of Triangle Electric, Brandon Johnson, said "Without quality, top notch employees, we wouldn't be where we are today.  Quality employees doing quality work."

Triangle Electric has been setting the standard in electrical construction for the down-, mid- and up-stream sectors of the Williston basin oil and gas industry for over 40 years.
