Be Fire Conscious This Hunting Season

Fire Marshall Rob Gilbert of Sidney reminds everyone to be safe this hunting season. “As dry as it is out there, hunters need to be careful,” he said.

Some basic rules include:

Stay on established roads and trails.

Don’t drive or park on tall grass

If you smoke, do so only in a safe area, clear of vegetation, and don’t throw butts on the ground.

Campfires should only be in designated spots and “dead–out-cold” before you leave.

Carry a fire extinguisher and shovel in your vehicle. They can go a long way in stopping a fire.

Enjoy a successful and safe hunting season.
